Notes 36-38 - Brother Dong's Criticism of the First Three Gospels and of the Apostles

Brother Dong criticizes the first three Gospels and the twelve apostles. He claims that Matthew, Mark, and Luke were not in the Spirit when they wrote their Gospels and that their writings are "traditional." This speaking is contrary to the clear words of 2 Peter 1:20-21 and 2 Tim. 3:16, which say:

2 Pet. 1:20-21 - [20] Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of one's own interpretation; [21] For no prophecy was ever borne by the will of man, but men spoke from God while being borne by the Holy Spirit.

2 Tim. 3:16 - All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

36Brother Dong Claims That Matthew, Mark, and Luke Were Not in the Spirit When They Wrote Their Gospels

That purpose was not presented in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, or Luke because when they wrote they were not in the Spirit, because [sic, should be "yet"] the Spirit already was. The Lord Jesus, after His crucifixion, became the Spirit, but probably they did not apply that Spirit.

All of the twelve apostles—all of them had their own things from their reading of the Bible. The Lord trained them for three and a half years, but they all applied it according to what was the most beneficial to them, while neglecting the inward life and Spirit. 38Brother Dong Criticizes the First Three Gospels as "Traditional"

Yesterday we saw that in the four Gospels the first three speak about the kingdom. But they are both traditional and judicial and do not present to us the way to enter into the kingdom. There is no way to enter!

During those three and a half years, the Lord spoke many words to the disciples. Their receiving, however, was very selective, depending on their burdens and abilities. Consider the four Gospels. They all have different perceptions of the Lord as well as His way of leading. They record different things, just as people have different views and opinions, especially when in the mind. We are different in value system, custom, and many other things. In the same way, the four Gospels give accounts of the Lord from different angles. For instance, the Gospel of Matthew was written by Matthew the tax collector. Because he was an official working for the government, he could only take in what the Lord said about the kingdom. Therefore, when he was with the Lord, he only noted down words and things related to the kingdom and the government.
